I see where you're stressing socialist ideologies slowly permeate the United States, but that does not mean that is communism. There is a difference. Communism for all publicly owned land, not state controlled. In addition, "communism embraced a revolutionary ideology in which the state would disappear after the overthrow of the capitalist system. In practice, however, the state increased control over all aspects of communist society." - Oxford Dictionary
This means that the idea has been applied incorrectly and that most people describe as "communism" is based on the model of Russia and those that followed, which are bastardizations of the original idea.
However, the U.S. is becoming a "police state" for sure and the Patriot Act, etc. is speeding and when America does not realize it, it will be interesting to see the reaction.
