San Jose Schools Join San Jose State Center Ira F.'s University Brilliant Beethoven Studies in Birthday Celebration

San Jose State University Ira F. Brilliant Center for Beethoven Studies and the San Jose Jewish Film Festival have partnered with schools in San Jose at an event to celebrate the San Jose State University Ira F. Brilliant Beethoven Center for Studies twenty first year. The event also includes the celebration of the premiere of "Beethoven's Hair" at the San Jose Jewish Film Festival. This will be an event for the whole community held in San Jose in October.

In 2006, San Jose Jewish Film Festival will be the central event and that is where the film "Beethoven's Hair" will be displayed. This film follows the perilous journey across two continents of 179 and a lock of Beethoven's hair. In 1827, a lock of hair was cut from Beethoven on his deathbed. This lock of hair is now in the San Jose State University's Ira F. Center Brilliant Beethoven Studies. The film "Beethoven's Hair" examines how the lock of hair has been transmitted from generation to generation and how he survived the Holocaust and the Second World War.

The San Jose Jewish Film Festival will host a fundraising event and celebration at the end of October. At this event, which will be held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library, all participants display a private viewing of the film "Beethoven's Hair" and meet director Larry Weinstein Q & A about the film. The author of the original book "Beethoven's Hair", the source for the film, will also be present. Russell Martin will sign free copies of his book and speak at the event. Everyone at this event will receive a private tour of the San Jose State University Ira F. Brilliant Center for Beethoven Studies, which has in its collection many personal letters and musical compositions written by Beethoven and the lock has been mentioned previously cut hair from his head.

Competition for schools in San Jose Test Beethoven

For his part in the anniversary event, San Jose schools have created a special essay contest. The person behind the writing contest is the assistant superintendent of schools in San Jose, Dr. Bill Erlendson. Dr. Erlendson believes that the appreciation of music is an important element in the education of all students in schools in San Jose. The essay contest is open to nearly 30,000 students from fourth to twelfth. The main idea behind the test is that Beethoven had a huge impact on the world of music and I hope that this essay contest will help educate students about the importance of music in their lives.

For the contest San Jose schools Beethoven Essay Students must write at least 250 words on one of the four themes. The four choices are: 1. What important lessons did Beethoven's life teach us?
2. How the story of Beethoven's music change?
3. How was life different / the same as that of Mozart Beethoven?
4. Beethoven was inspired by nature and social events. What inspires
you do a better job?
The trials are due Beethoven September 29, 2006. The winner at each level of primary and secondary schools, will attend the private screening of "Beethoven's Hair". While the first five places will receive tickets for public viewing the 2006 San Jose Jewish Film Festival.
