Ecommerce Merchant

I am creating a website to sell products within the next year and I know that having a shopping cart I need a merchant account to process transactions by credit card, can someone tell me what is the best and most cost effective merchant account for a new e-commerce site or can I rely on paypal to cover all my needs. ie I need a merchant account if I already have a Pay Pal account? Thank you in advance.

Paypal works well for many companies. We use it for our two companies. The only limitation is that it will not accept payment for transactions over ÂŁ 650, where the customer does not have a Paypal account.

One way around is to use NETBANX. Their fees are very reasonable and you can start with an office account with them (the works in a manner similar to Paypal) and change to a merchant account once you have built a track record.

Investigation that I have a merchant account with our bank, but we would still have had the account and NETBANX. Doubling the fee does not seem worth it. This may not be the case with all banks. I can not speak for Lloyds.

You can use Paypal but this is not quite as professional-
It depends on what type of business you create and what image you want to represent. For some it perfect and I recommend they go well Thet, but for others it will not work.
