There are no national programs that offer scholarships that are intended exclusively for single mothers.
I know there was a huge volume of advertising (particularly online) saying that there are special grants (often attributed to the President), but the ads are part of a campaign of large-scale scam led by identify the thieves and criminals.
The president has made numerous comments in favor of providing educational opportunities to all Americans - and especially single mothers - but your memories of the old government and civics courses should remember that U.S. President No. has no constitutional authority to create spending programs and grants. Under the Constitution of the United States, Congress is responsible for controlling the purse strings of government.
There is simply no such "single mother" of subsidies.
Now, this does not mean there is no program anywhere - you and your sister should contact the local offices of the Division of Child and Family Services, the Ministry of Education and Ministry Labor for your state, because there are programs funded by the EU on employment training grants aimed at promoting educational opportunities in professions require critical care nurses.
You do not mention your state, but as an example, Florida has what is called "Pass the Nursing Education Grant, which is administered by the Florida Center for Nursing Ministry of Education. The grant does not go directly to students, but what it does do is provide local colleges with funds for training and licensing of new nurses.
Your sister may also call the state nursing local board (you can find the full list here: http://www.allnursingschools.com/faqs/bo ... For more information on state programs that can help with the cost of school.
Finally, your sister is eligible for all grants from federal student aid program, waivers, loans and work study programs. You and your sister has to sit with the book that I am linking below. This is called "Financing Education Beyond High School: A Guide to Federal Student Aid" and is designed as an introduction to all forms of financial assistance are available for American college students.
As you look through the booklet, you will learn what is available, how much is available, who is eligible and, more importantly, how to apply for this. With 5 children and a small income, it is very likely that your sister will qualify for special forms of "needs based" financial aid, including Pell grants, which could provide up to $ 5,350 per year free money "gift" from the U.S. government.
Definitely check it. I hope this information helps - and congratulations to you to take care of your sister so diligently. Good luck!
Hit your local library or bookstore, near the SAT preparation books will be a couple of great books on all Grant and Scholarship in the United States. There is little there for women returning to school. There is no index qualification easy: you get to the leg by something like 1,300 scholarships, one at a time.
education.mypressonline.com - he gives advice on applications for grants from U.S. federal and state student.
