Canadian Loans

I am a university researcher in the U.S. but I am Canadian.
I intend to apply in the Med School next fall to enter in 2011.
I am currently on an F1 visa.
My question is, how could I not look for student loans for med students in the U.S. Canadian / foreign students in the United States. Should I look for these loans before or after I applied to med school? How does it work?
